My aim with my artwork is to provide an invitation for an honest journey through the heartaches of life as a means to glimpse redemption from the ashes; my art is my cry for shalom; which is the desire to see all the broken things made whole and right.

About Katie

Katie Anderson Calvert is a visual artist and graphic designer based in the Rocket City, Alabama. She grew up in a small town in Tennessee running around the backyard, dreaming dreams and picking four leaf clovers. She always wanted to be an artist as a youth, and while pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Design, she was able to take a variety of formal courses in painting, drawing and printmaking. She left college to enter into the professional field of design and helped many diverse clients with identity and website work for over a decade.

When she became a mother of young children, she took a break from her career to be a stay at home mom and run around the backyard with her tiny people. But she slowly began to pick up her paints and palette knife again, and now she is seeking how to best use her voice through her art.

Katie's love of her Creator, her wonder of the untamable outdoors, and her passion for seeing the broken things of the world find their shalom are the main influences in her artwork and tools that she utilizes to inspire wonder and elicit raw emotional response and deeply thought-provoking conversations.
